AmeriCorps Seniors

The AmeriCorps Seniors national program connects volunteers to meaningful community service with senior citizens. Troup County offers two initiatives:
- The Foster Grandparent program connects senior volunteers with children and young people with exceptional needs. Volunteers mentor, support, and help some of the most vulnerable children in their community. Foster Grandparent Program
- The Senior Companion Program brings together volunteers age 55 and over with adults in their community who have difficulty with the simple tasks of day-to-day living. Companions help out on a personal level by assisting with shopping and light chores, interacting with doctors, or just making a friendly visit. Senior Companion Program
AmeriCorps Seniors is an equal opportunity agency. Enrollment is done without regard to race, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, political affiliation, marital or parental status, or military service. FGP/SCP provides reasonable accommodations to the known disabilities of individuals in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
To become a part of Troup County’s AmeriCorps Seniors program, fill out this volunteer application and submit it to Lashonda.smith@dph.ga.gov.
