Henry County’s Environmental Health Office monitors and addresses threats to health and safety posed by physical, chemical and biological factors in our natural and built environments. The county office monitors and enforces policies and programs to reduce environmental hazards, handles inspections and complaints, and monitors safety concerns in the areas listed below.

WIC is the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children. Located in the same building as the health department, the Henry County WIC and Nutrition Center stands ready to support low-income families in taking care of their health through the services Georgia WIC offers: nutritious foods, health education, breastfeeding support, and referrals to health care.
This free program is available to pregnant women, new moms, breastfeeding moms, and parents or guardians who are the sole provider of children under age five and meet the income and nutritional requirements. The WIC program also provides participants with individually tailored healthy food vouchers that can be used at thousands of stores through Georgia’s eWIC program, the state’s electronic food system for issuing food benefits.
Travel Health
Our health department’s Travel Health Clinic provides consultations on your travel plans to assess your risk and help you minimize accidents, injury and disease during your journey. We use a questionnaire (you can fill it out ahead of time and bring it with you) in our assessment to ensure we understand the purpose of the visit, type of travel planned, traveler health status and more. This will help us determine the need for any vaccinations or special advice before your trip.
We supply and administer all international travel vaccines, with varying fees based on vaccines needed. Please plan to make an appointment at least 4-8 weeks before your journey, as it may take up to a month to complete some vaccine treatments. Family Nurse Practitioner Services

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
Henry County’s CERT educates volunteers about disaster preparedness so that they are equipped to face the hazards that may impact our community. They are trained in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations.
To volunteer for Henry County CERT, complete the CERT Volunteer application and fax it to 770.954.2876.
Food Service Training Classes
We offer quarterly training sessions on important topics for food service industry professionals, including ServSafe certification classes.
Classes will take place from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at 137 Henry Parkway, McDonough, GA 30253. Cost is $10 per person. Please contact 470-661-0044 ext. 0 to register at least two (2) weeks in advance.
