Due to the public health state of emergency surrounding COVID-19, the State Office of Vital Records has suspended all walk-in services until further notice. Please inform everyone in your office and local partners of this change immediately. Also, please advise constituents to request birth and death records online using one of our approved third party vendors (ROVER, Go Certificates, or VitalChek). For changes or corrections to a vital record, please continue to mail requests, along with the required documentation, to our facility. If you qualify you receive a nutrition assessment, health screening, nutrition education, referrals to other health and social services, vouchers for healthy foods and much more.  Here you can complete an online application to see if you qualify.

Vital Records

The Vital Records office maintains records of all births and deaths. They assist in the filing and issuance of any such certificates, as well as with the amending of birth and death certificates, filing delayed birth certificates, issuing burial permits to funeral homes.

The department also legitimates births and deaths and handles paternity acknowledgements for Troup County residents.

Environmental Health

The Environmental Health office provides primary prevention of environmental hazard and illness through surveillance, education, enforcement, and assessment to identify, prevent, and abate the environmental conditions that adversely impact human health.

Our office mandates programs including food service, tourist accommodations, and water regulations. We also oversee the Rabies Control Program, and we assist in indoor air quality relating to mold.
